Meet the Newest Member of The Wood Family

Meet Lacee Sophia Wood. If any of you know me, you know that I am not a "dog lover" by any means. Last Sunday I was in the Christmas mood and decided I would surprise my family with a sweet little puppy. How excited Chris was when I finally got him a puppy. Ava was thrilled and Lilly seems to just simply love life. I felt like a great mother and wife. Sunday night we loved all over the puppy and played with her. Chris named her Lacee (a name he wanted for one of the girls) and Ava liked Sophia. The puppy was so sweet just laying in the kitchen. BUT THEN REALITY HIT ME MONDAY MORNING....... what was I thinking. Chris got up to go to work at 2:30 am as usual and around 5:00am Lilly and the dog Lacee are both needing to be fed and are whinning and crying. I run and feed Lilly, lay her back in her crib to find Lacee still whinning in the kitchen to go outside in the FREEZING cold. I throw on some clothes, looking like a scary bum and take Lacee out. Once again I am realizing I have created more work in my life and this time I did it for no apparent reason. I go back to lay down and I hear Lilly crying, walk by the kitchen and Lacee is jumping up and whinning for me as well. Not to mention she has gone to the bathroom on me kitchen rug. As I am cleaning that up I hear footsteps down the hallway asking can she have cookies for breakfast and will I pleassssse play a game on the computer with her. By this time I start to see the sun appear over the trees and think to myself........A husband, a 4 1/2 year old, a 7 month old, and a six week old puppy- Is it to early to start drinking? HA!!

Today Was Fun Mommy!!

"Today was really fun Mommy!" were the last little words I heard utter out of Ava's mouth as she finally shut her eyes. It wasn't but a couple of weeks ago on a Monday morning that we were driving to school when she asked me why her friend Cole didn't have to go to school. I explained to her that Cole's mommy dosen't have to work. I saw the wheels in Ava's head turning as she was thinking and then she looked at me in the rear-view mirror and said "So everyday is the weekend for Cole." Just as she said those words "GUILT" begin to pour all over my body. I told Ava what great friends she had at school and how smart she was and reassured her everyday was not like the weekends for her friend. She quickly got over the fact that she has to go to school and her weekends are Saturday and Sunday. I quickly got over the fact that I have to work because we have yet to win the lottery!! SO...... today Ava got to have a weekend in the middle of the week. I was off of school and decided we would stay home and have a little fun. The Hardee Boys & The Oliver Kids all came over for a fall day of fun. Ava enjoyed running, playing hide & seek, riding the Barbie Jeep, laying around with her friends, eating snacks, and making a mess of the house. But once everyone went to bed I went in to kiss both girls goodnight and I actually thought to myself "Ava & Lilly today was really fun and Mommy loved being home with you too!"

October Fun

The month of October is already over and before long December will be here. Friends often ask "Where have you been?" or "You are too busy, we need to get together sometime." This month flew in with the leaves and with that being said the "Wild Wood Family" spent every weekend playing. The first weekend was the Garner Fireman's Day Parade. The second weekend was the State Fair. The next weekend was Ella Grace's First Birthday, and the last weekend was Halloween. I must say we lead a very BUSY life, but as a good friend of mine once said "We're making memories".

LOOK MOMMY- SHE'S ROLLING!!!

"Mommy! Come quick, Lilly is rolling over!" The famous words every mom wants to hear with the first born, but the dreaded words you don't want to hear with the second child. Every mother knows that not long after the rolling over comes crawling, pulling up, and eventually walking (which leads to NO MORE SITTING DOWN & A LOT OF CHASING YOUR CHILD). But when Ava shouted those cute little words I ran into the living room and cheered for Lilly just like I did when Ava rolled over for the first time. Once all the excitement was over and Lilly did a really cute smile, it quickly faded into a frown and she realized she hadn't the slightest idea how to role back over. Lilly could hold her tiny head up for a few minutes before it hit the carpet and she began to whine. We all circled around her like a group of puppies and showed her how to roll back over. It was a "BIG MILESTONE" for Lillybug. Now if we could just figure out how to sleep through the night.

"Look, everybody I'm on my
side!!"

"Yes! I made it all the way over!
What now?"

"All this rolling has puckered me
out."

Rupunzel Gets Her Hair Cut

If any of you know my Ava, you happen to know she has a habit of cutting her own hair. Well today Ava got a hair cut by a professional, rather than herself. Let me back up and explain why we have our "New Short Stack Cut." I remember when I was growing up often asking my mom why she didn't let my hair grow long and put pretty matching bows in my hair when I was in preschool and grade school. She often would reply with two answers "Your hair just wouldn't grow right" or "You wouldn't let me put those pretty bows in your hair." Now being a mother of two daughters and one with a mind of her own, I know exactly what those comments mean. Basically mom was saying "Unless I slapped you over the head with the brush - you were determined not to wear those bows in your hair and your hair is way to thin to hold those bows." I happen to know somewhere out there in the wild blue yonder there lives that compliant little girl who wakes up every morning and screams "Mommy put bows in my hair and please brush my glorious locks of hair." Unfortunately at my house my Sweet Ava screams "Mommy don't touch my uneven locks of hair and please don't put any sort of clip, bow, or anything pretty in my hair. I love to go around looking like rats live in my hair." This brings me to my adventure into the salon today. We walk into the salon and she looks at Ava and says "Ava have you been cutting your hair again?" and with that said we decided to give her the "stack" cut. Leaving the salon I thought it was the cutest cut in the world. When we get home Chris takes one look and says "Where is all her hair?" I forgot to mention he was in love with Crystal Gail in his past life. Well I guess it is hair and it will eventually grow and of course there still is hope for Lilly to be my child that wakes up each morning and screams "Mommy brush my long locks of hair. But
then again I won't hold my breath.

Sisterly Love

When Chris and I decided to have our second child we couldn't wait to find out what we would be having. Of course for Chris, I think deep down inside he wanted that little boy. So how shocked we were to find out his little "swimmers" had once again created another little girl. As we rode home we talked about how great this would be for Ava. We already knew some things about girls, we wouldn't need to buy too many clothes, and for goodness sakes that "pink" nursery would not need to be repainted. One thing we never talked about was the amount of love Ava would have for Lilly or the way Lilly would light up when Ava walks into the room. I know there are going to be days when they are about to pull each others hair out, but for just this moment it seems "Sisterly Love" couldn't get any sweeter!! Here are some of my favorite photos.

"Ava had waited forever for this day!"

Lilly was 6 days old when Ava made her
a "Crown" for her head. Two princesses live
here now!!

Lilly's first 4th of July! She was wearing an outfit
that Ava wore as a baby.

Ava happen to be running by when all
of the sudden she realized "Lilly needed a kiss
from sissy".
